give the mentee the task of explaining a concept

The Feynmann method¹¹¹ Well described in Upgrade Atomic Thinking to Holistic Thinking  is similar:

1. pick a topic and try to explain it to someone else.
2. record all the gaps in your explanation attempt.
3. fill in the gaps by learning.
4. repeat step 1–3 until you are satisfied.
