Weeknotes 2022 W33: Visitor
Basti was visiting me in Berlin for most of the week. On Monday and Tuesday I worked, but I took the rest of the week off. We had a pretty relaxed time, with plenty of good food and good friends.
On several occasions, I forgot that this relaxed way of living wasn’t my regular life. I am going back to work on Monday.
Last week was hot, but this week was worse. I don’t mind one or two days of heat, but up until Friday it was consistently above 30°C (86°F), barely dipping below that at night.
The heat gave me considerable trouble sleeping. That didn’t impact my energy too much, but on the weekend I crashed a little and slept 9–10 hours on both days.
I spent quite a lot of time out and about in Berlin, eating out frequently, revisiting old restaurants and discovering new ones. I hadn’t been hanging out in Berlin this much since 2019.
Being vegan in Berlin, as anywhere else, can still be a challenge. There are many vegan restaurants, and nearly all restaurants have at least vegan options, but there is plenty of food I won’t have, and that makes me a bit sad.
I haven’t fully figured out yet what I want to achieve by being vegan. Perhaps thinking that through, and putting it into writing, will help me figure out what the purpose of it is for me.
Basti and I visited Hamburger Bahnhof. To clarify, that’s the museum for contemporary art — not a train station. Modern art is weird. I don’t think I really enjoyed it.
Entertainment:
- Prey is a good action movie. I’ve not seen any of the other predator movies, but now I’m tempted!
