Overall objective
Up: Acting
The overall objective (or super-objective) is the answer to the question: What is the ultimate thing that “I” want from life?
Chubbuck1 gives three requirements for a good overall objective (OO):
- simple: OO can be expressed in just a few words.
- basic/primal: OO relates to a core human need (love, survival, self-worth).
- active: character must be able to actively pursue OO
The overall objective is independent from any other character, unlike the scene objective.
Examples:
- To be respected
- To become powerful
